The Problem with the Perfect Sunset

The problem with the perfect most amazing stunning incredible Sunset is that it doesn’t translate well. There’s a chasm. Between the experience of you and partner slash girlfriend slash boyfriend have walking on promenade experiencing most amazing incredible stunning indescribable Cape Town perfect moment. And the picture you take on your blackberry 3 megapixel. There’s a gaping rift. When you see the results of your upload on Facebook mobile you feel like a slight injustice has been done in the world. Your special moment commonized. Those pinks and blues and yellows and purples and the little silhouetted ships with blinking lights on the horizons just doesn’t feel the same digitally. Unknowingly, you’ve created a digital cliche. You’re moment blends into the thousands of Facebook mobile sunset moment uploads. Thousands of words used to comment on facebook pictures just the same.
Some moments are meant to be savored. If the camera doesn’t do it justice it’s better to enjoy the reality not the representation.

True… I’ve been on a mission to capture the perfect sunset, for a long time. You need a good camera though, timing, location, multiple shots and some editing techniques. A cellphone camera on an evening stroll will never do it.
