The Avatar Effect

The Avatar Effect

01st February 2010, in Blog (0 Comments)

The Chinese pulled Avatar 3D from screens, the Film critics decried it’s ‘Racist Subtext’,  military conservatives attacked it’s direct relation to the “War on Terrorism” and even the official Vatican paper pulled up some heavy purple coat to pack in their punches.

Despite the onslaught, Director James Cameron’s imaginative story dives into a archetypal jungle that pulls on cultures deepest chords. His fierce criticism is really a tribute to his storytelling prowess and Hollywood’s talent to still captivate and wrangle contemporary social imagination.

My hope is that we can produce work, create campaigns, write copy, and produce images that resonate and awe, without the hefty $500 million price tag and a pair of those nerdy wayfarer knock-offs.

If you haven’t yet seen Avatar, here’s a trailer.
