Movember Modown

Freedom is walking into your nearest dirty downtown bar. Like Kimberley Hotel at 10pm on a school night. Scuttling past Buitenkant frequenters and up the back-end stairs into a bar with a history full of sooty stories (Paul van der Spuy tells me all rude ones). It takes a second for your jeans to soak up all the smoke. And then another to absorb a reel of flashbacks with late night parties ending in Dario playing enough incredible music to inspire a new iTunes playlist. Kimberley Hotel. Yes. Where the art has been donated and nobody notices they haven’t changed the light bulbs since 1993.
There’s so much creatively executed tash around tonight. Amazing how big a Cancer awareness campaign has grown around this fluff. The recipe for success? It’s fun. Girlfriends can do it, kinda. And unless you come from a long-haulage trucking background, everybody notices that hairy thing chilling on your upper lip.
